By Shakti Malas & Jill Jardine
It is auspicious to wear a mala that represents the 7 major planets of Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and the Lunar North Node and South Node, known in the Vedic astrology system as Rahu and Ketu. Shakti Malas has consulted international astrologer, Jill Jardine, and was guided to design these special 9 planet malas.
Two variations are available:
One includes the gemstones that correspond to each of the 7 planets and Rahu and Ketu. This stunning gemstone mala has genuine ruby for the Sun, moonstone or pearl for the Moon, green aventurine for Mercury, clear quartz for Venus, red coral or carnelian for Mars, yellow jade or citrine for Jupiter, sodalite or lapis lazuli for Saturn, hessonite garnet for Rahu and tiger eye for Ketu; it also has a rudraksha bead as guru bead, Swarovski crystals dividing it in 4 quarters, and is complemented with beautiful silver beads and a multi-colored tassel.
Another mala has been created using special Swarovski crystals to represent the planets by corresponding to the gemstone color for each planet. Swarovski crystal is a powerful form of crystal bead, and is a light refractor, allowing one to "wear light." Swarovski crystals amplify and heighten any purpose for which the mala is made, especially when used for Mantra Japa. Mantra Japa is a spiritual practice of chanting mantra while counting 108 times with each bead of the mala.
When one wears these malas with the 9 Planet gem stones in contact with their skin, it will offset the influence of any malific or unfavorable planetary or astrological alignments in the natal birthchart. Wearing a 9-planet mala is a remedial measure practiced with success for years in India, originating from the ancient vedic texts of Jyotish, "the language of light", the sanskrit name for vedic astrology.
